Trip 513: Hiking from Deir Mar Semaan (Aito) to Deir Hamatoura


The Footprints Nature Club would like to invite you this Sunday 8 March 2020 to a hiking trip in one of the most beautiful regions in the nature of Lebanon which will be:

Hiking from Deir Mar Semaan (Aito) to Deir Hamatoura 

Other than the special spiritual values of the two places, the first part of the trail will all be in a huge pine forest. The second part will be on the side of the deep valley of Qadisha that will lead us to Deir Hamatoura. To get to the bus, we will use the old stairs of the Deir to get down.

Deir Hamatoura is a real landmark since it is all built inside a mountain using mules. As usual, we will not talk about the beauty of the place that we will walk in, we will refer you to the pictures in the email and on our website.

This trail will be of an easy to medium level (5 to 6/10). It will be around 10 KMs. There will be no ascents in the trail, however, in the last section will pass on a footpath at the side of a deep valley that will lead us to Deir Hamatoura. After that, we will head down from the Deir using the long stairs.

مشي في الطبيعة من دير مار سمعان في بلدة أيطو الى دير حماطورة

حيث سنتمتع بمناظرها الخلابة ونتجه نزولاً من قلب غابة أيطو المليئة بأشجار الصنوبر. ونتابع المسير نزولاً الى دير حماطورة الذي يعد أيقونة رائعة لأن كل الدير بني في قلب الصخر دون إستعمال أي من وسائل النقل الحديثة بل بإستخدام الدرج الطويل المؤدي إلى وادي قاديشا.

المستوى العام للرحلة هو سهل إلى متوسط بمسافة حوالي 10 كلم.

    TAKE A TEN MINUTE BREAK AT LEAST ONCE EVERY HOUR.

    No Food, No Fuel, No Fun

    DRINK FREQUENTLY AND EAT OFTEN.
