A very nice trail in a very beautiful village in Jbeil Region, will be the hiking trip with the Footprints Nature Club for this Sunday 21 January 2018, which will be:
Hiking in Mayfouk
Mayfouk is a Lebanese village in Byblos (Jbeil) district, Mount Lebanon. It is located at 60 Km from Beirut, with altitudes that vary from 800m to 1100m. It was the second Maronite Patriarchal location in Lebanon.
We will start from the village of Kfar Chilli (1080m), and head up easily to reach the St. Charbel chapel that is carved in the rocks (1290m). The road will start to descend slowly until we reach Deir El-Qattara, and have our break near a natural spring there. After lunch, we will continue our trail slightly down to pass through a very old church of Mar Saba that is surrounded by two famous huge oak trees. From there, we will continue our trail to reach the famous Deir Saidet Mayfouk (1746 AD) where you will see a very old icon of the Lady of Elige, the oldest icon in Lebanon.
The hike will be of an Easy to Medium Level with some difficulties since it is a bit long (6 to 7/10 – 12 KMs – 4 to 5 hrs).
Splendid sceneries will be on our trail. Just enjoy the photos to know more about what we are talking about.
